Chiyaan Vikram's big budget extravaganza Rajapattai managed to take an earth-shattering opening across Tamil Nadu. The film collected about 40 Crores in its first week of release, but due to the poor content, the collections dropped heavily in its subsequent weeks. The film never got a long run in the boxoffice as Nanban and Vettai released 15 days later. The film failed to recover its cost of production hence is declared a failure at the boxoffice despite grossing above 50 crores. The extended schedules and undue delays in production have ultimately had the last word in the boxoffice verdict of this movie.
